Getting to Phu Quoc from Thailand

Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) receives direct flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK) operated by Bangkok Airways, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and AirAsia. Flight time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Flights operate most days of the week, making a 3-night weekend trip from Bangkok straightforward to arrange.

Connections from Chiang Mai, Phuket, and other Thai cities typically route through Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City with short layovers. Travel time from most Thai cities to Phu Quoc stays comfortably within half a day.

Visa Information

Thai passport holders qualify for Vietnam's visa-free entry programme for stays of up to 45 days. No visa application or e-visa fee is required — simply present your Thai passport on arrival at Phu Quoc International Airport. This applies to tourism visits including golf trips.

If you are travelling on a non-Thai passport, Vietnam's e-visa is available online for most nationalities and covers 90-day single-entry stays. GolfPQ can advise on what applies to your specific passport if you are unsure.

👥 Group Golf Trip

GolfPQ handles multi-tee-time bookings, group transfers, club hire coordination and airport logistics for golf groups of any size from Thailand.

Why Phu Quoc over Hua Hin or Khao Yai?

Hua Hin and Khao Yai are excellent, but they're home courses for Thai golfers. Phu Quoc offers something genuinely different: two courses you haven't played, a tropical island setting with beaches, fresh seafood and sunset strips, and a trip that feels like a proper golf holiday rather than a day out. The island's golf infrastructure is well-developed, the courses are uncrowded compared to many Thailand alternatives, and prices are competitive when converted to Thai Baht. For Thai golfers wanting to tick off Vietnam, Phu Quoc is the easiest starting point.
