Phu Quoc may be a long way from the UK, but for serious golfers it punches well above its weight. Vietnam introduced visa-free entry for British passport holders in 2023, both championship courses are uncrowded and well-maintained, and the island's beaches, food and sunsets provide everything you need between rounds. For a golf trip that genuinely feels like an adventure rather than a repeat of Portugal or Spain, Phu Quoc delivers.
Getting to Phu Quoc from the UK
There are no direct flights from the UK to Phu Quoc, but the journey is comfortable with one connection. The most popular routings for British golfers are:
- Via Singapore (SIN) — Singapore Airlines from Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester to Singapore, then a short onward flight to Phu Quoc with Scoot or VietJet. Total journey time 13–16 hours. Singapore is an excellent stopover city.
- Via Bangkok (BKK or DMK) — British Airways, Thai Airways or partner carriers to Bangkok, then Bangkok Airways or Vietnam Airlines direct to Phu Quoc. Good frequency on both legs.
- Via Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) — Vietnam Airlines flies Heathrow to Ho Chi Minh direct (around 11 hours), with frequent 1-hour connections to Phu Quoc throughout the day. This is a popular choice for a Vietnam add-on trip.
We recommend building in an extra night in Singapore or Bangkok on the outbound if your schedule allows — arriving fresh makes the first round infinitely more enjoyable.
Visa Information for UK Travellers
UK passport holders have been granted visa-free entry to Vietnam since August 2023. This applies to stays of up to 45 days for tourism, including golf holidays. No application, e-visa or fee is required. Simply arrive at Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) with your valid UK passport. This applies to British Citizens, British Nationals (Overseas) and other categories of British passport — if you are uncertain about your specific passport type, the Vietnamese Embassy website has up-to-date guidance.

⛳ Vinpearl Golf Club
An 18-hole, par-72 championship course in the north of Phu Quoc designed by IMG. Forest-lined fairways, sea views on several holes, and a full clubhouse with restaurant, pro shop, and driving range. Think Gleneagles quality of greenkeeping in a tropical setting. Caddie and shared buggy are included.

When to Go from the UK
Phu Quoc has two seasons. The high season (November–April) brings dry skies, gentle breezes and temperatures around 28°C — ideal golfing conditions and the most popular time for UK visitors escaping winter. The low season (May–October) is wetter but golf is still very playable, prices are lower, and the island is less crowded. The November–April window aligns perfectly with UK winters, making Phu Quoc a natural choice for a mid-winter golf break.
